The Effect of French-Style Contrast Training on the Development of Rebound Strength and Some Transitional Velocity Measurements in Field Hockey Players

Among modern and emerging training methods, French-Style Contrast Training highlights the concept of Post-Activation Potentiation (PAP) by improving muscle performance after activation. Rebound strength represents an individual's ability to effectively utilize the lengthening-shortening cycle, commonly referred to as the muscular system's ability to produce a strong and rapid concentric muscle contraction immediately following a rapid eccentric movement. Transitional speed, as a specific physical ability, is a key factor that plays a significant role in achieving optimal athletic performance for field hockey players. Effective development of this ability is linked to competitive performance.
This research aims to study the effect of French-style contrast training on developing the rebound force index and some transitional speed measurements for young field hockey players. The sample included (26) young field hockey players born in 2006 at the Sharkia Sports Club and registered with the Egyptian Hockey Federation. The researchers concluded that French-style contrast training has a positive impact on developing the rebound force index and some transitional speed measurements (10-meter high-start sprint test, 30-meter high-start sprint test, 30-meter straight-line dribbling speed test, and 30-meter ball-rolling speed test) for young field hockey players.
