Mental health is a goal of every individual and a wish that every person wishes to achieve for themselves, their family, at work, during training and sports, and in all disciplines and various areas of life. Mental health enables the individual to control their emotions and feelings, avoiding misbehavior and adopting healthy behavior. It is no less important than general physical health. In fact, physical health may remain unable to bring happiness to a person unless it is present. Mental health is a positive state that includes enjoying a healthy mind and body, not merely being free of symptoms of mental illness. This is what mental health has confirmed. Technical performance in sports, especially volleyball, is an important element in developing the level of skill performance by effectively contributing to increasing the student's comprehension of the skill and controlling the motor level when performing it. This is especially true since all of these skills require a high level of awareness, including achieving optimal performance. Technical performance (tactics), in its brief meaning, is "economy of movement." This means that the student moves in a purposeful and economical manner to achieve a high level, while observing the rules of the game during the movement. This has a clear impact on the form and, in particular, the performance of the basic skills (technical performance) of volleyball. Therefore, it should be noted that skill development is an important part of the training process, as it is an effective tool in implementing defensive and offensive plans, and through developing the effectiveness of mental processes. Therefore, the researcher decided to study the relationship between mental health and the performance of some basic volleyball skills for the University of Babylon national team.
