Abstract

The current research aims to develop rehabilitation exercises using light contact boxing to increase physical fitness and determine their impact on some physical characteristics (strength, speed, flexibility, agility, endurance) and the psychological health of drug addicts. The researcher used the experimental method by designing equivalent groups (experimental and control) with pre- and post-tests. The research population included (20) drug addicts in recovery who were officially registered in hospitals in Babylon Governorate. The research sample included (14) male patients only, aged 20-30 years. They were randomly selected from the research population after a specialist physician read each patient's personal data to determine the type of addiction. The research variables were determined based on the researcher's experience. These variables were (general leg endurance, general arm endurance, and psychological health scale). Physical tests were conducted on the sample at the Sport Center for Physiotherapy and Public Health. Finally, the researcher concluded that the rehabilitation exercises using the light contact method used on drug addicts had an impact on developing the physical variables related to muscular endurance in the arms and legs. The researcher also concluded that the exercises used played a significant role in improving the psychological state of drug addicts.
