Abstract

Diversity in the use of different methods and methods of teaching works to relieve students' boredom resulting from the use of one method.

Among the methods that recent studies have proven useful in increasing and speeding up education and developing skills more quickly than other methods are competition methods.

The importance of the research also lies in the fact that it is an attempt to add the application of competition methods to football lessons at the college stage, and this research may contribute to giving a practical method applied in a scientific way that everyone can benefit from. The research problem lies in answering the following questions:

Do competition methods achieve the development of some soccer skills?

Which of these methods is better in the development process?

The research aims to reveal the effect of using the two styles of competition (self and comparative) in developing the level of performance of some soccer skills and retaining them.

The researcher used the experimental approach to address the problem of his research. As for the research sample, it was selected from the students of the third stage for the academic year (2021-2022), whose number is (40 students). The researcher implemented (16) educational units to develop the performance level of three football skills, namely (handling and control). and scoring). And by two educational units for each skill and two styles of competition methods, namely (the style of self-competition, the style of comparative competition), the researcher concluded the following:

The (comparative and self-competitive method) are effective methods in developing the level of performance of the skills (handling, control and scoring) in football, but in different proportions.
